“Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” ~ Einstein

I was reminded of imagination being more important than knowledge by my 13 year old niece recently. She told me this was her favorite quote and went on to explain why it had individual and social ramifications. Proud, I listened and melted in the presence of her open, caring heart.

We are realizing that we got it backward, upside down. Reason is our comfort zone. We have a left brain linear mind obsession.

“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.” ~ Albert Einstein

We don’t have to pick one or the other. Imagine: Reason in service of intuition. The mind in service of the heart. Not the other way around. This is why we need a space revolution. We need to make space so that all that is underdeveloped in us can rise.

“You get your intuition back when you make space for it.” Anne Lamott Bird by Bird

Balance of Feminine and Masculine

Why am I bringing this up? Because life thrives on balance, which has somehow become a dirty word in some circles today. Balance isn’t static;  it is a dynamic swaying, a constant ebbing and flowing. Balance is day knowing night is approaching. Balance is night making space for a new dawn. Balance is a cycle of rest preparing you for another phase of deep engaged work.

Although I don’t speak the ancient language of my Inca ancestors, Quechua, there is a Andean word part of the Andean Cosmovision that I fell in love with when gathering research for my architectural thesis in Cuzco, Peru. It is Yanantin.

I’m in awe of this cosmological understanding across time and culture.Yanantin is the Andean version of the Taoist and Feng Shui principle of manifestation known as Yin & Yang, feminine and masculine. Yanantin illustrates this magical dance of equilibrium between complementary opposites, energies that are part of a harmonious whole.

Life is always shifting, moving, flowing towards equilibrium. What you need now will be different from what you need tomorrow. Life asks that you pay attention. Stay present. Alive.

Dar a luz

What is seeking balance, expression, awakening in your space & heart today?

The new moon marks a time to set a new healing pattern in motion, to incline our hearts towards something dear to us, to dar a luz, to give birth.  I’m slowing down to taste the healing gifts of the soul, of the spirit, of the feminine mapping her own territory, her own sacred space.

There is your balance. Wishing you new moon blessings,
