In the realm of Ayahuasca

I am being asked to bare my soul. To dive in. Deeper. Trust my wings growing as I fall. Can’t help feeling vulnerable sharing this beautiful film from the land of my ancestors, revealing a glimpse of my beloved medicine world, a window into the realm of Ayahuasca. I invite you to watch the film and listen with your heart and/or keep on reading if you feel the pull to dive into this meditation..

From Ayahuasqueros, environmental recording from the Peruvian rainforest:

The melodies that shamans bring back from their visions are called “icaros” : they help navigate the space of Ayahuasca consciousness, and can also serve as lifelines when overwhelmed by visions…Grab onto the icaros: these songs are made of knowledge..paths…technology for navigating consciousness. ~ Ayahuasqueros

This wild consciousness, when too contained, seeks to overflow. From the words of Anais Nin, fill up your cup dear ones and let it run over:

You must not fear, hold back, count or be a miser with your thoughts and feelings. It is also true that creation comes from an overflow, so you have to learn to intake, to imbibe, to nourish yourself and not be afraid of fullness. The fullness is like a tidal wave which then carries you, sweeps you into experience and into writing. Permit yourself to flow and overflow, allow for the rise in temperature, all the expansions and intensifications. Something is always born of excess: great art was born of great terrors, great loneliness, great inhibitions, instabilities, and it always balances them. ~ Anais Nin, The Diary of Anais Nin, Vol. 4: 1944-1947 via brainpicking.org

Flow is not always comfortable as we expand our capacity to allow for stronger currents to move through us. I am reminded of these words from Toni Morrison on the difficulty and glorious nature of love:

Let me tell you about love…Love is divine only and difficult always. You can only earn – by practice and careful contemplations – the right to express it and you have to learn how to accept it…Love is not a gift. It is a diploma. A diploma conferring certain privileges: the privilege of expressing love and the privilege of receiving it. How do you know you have graduated? You don’t. What you do know is that you are human and therefore educable, and therefore capable of learning how to learn, and therefore interesting to God, who is interested only in …love…and the bliss it brings to those who understand and share the interest.
~ Toni Morrison, Paradise

Love is divine only and difficult always because we resist, just when we need the courage to surrender most.. May we taste the magic of love’s fullness overflow our lives and creations, and see the bright fire in our hearts illuminate trails of love. Grateful for all of YOU,
